Church at St-Mere-Eglise made famous by Red Buttons (AKA Private John Steel, 2nd Battalion, 505th PIR 82nd Abn ) in Longest Day. Both the 101st & 82nd ABN were haphazardly dropped & mingled esp near St-Mere-Eglise. Winters actually moves East of here to Brecourt Manor where he will get Distinguished Service Cross for leading a successful assault on an Artillery site attacking Utah Beach by Exits 2 & 3.

B Bayeux Church 735x1024

This is Cathedral of Our Lady of Bayeux. The present cathedral was consecrated on 14 July 1077 in the presence of William, Duke of Normandy. Thiis cathedral houses the Bayeux Tapestry (on way to UK as we speak). We did not see it. Long day & we were late getting back.
